Comment: This is a really addictive game. It's free and webbased. Easy to learn and complex enough to keep you interested. Find some friends/guildmates from over the world and become a force within the five pillars to be recogned with.
I played in the League of Beers for a reset and although we didn't play very good, we had a lot of fun and even a year later people still remember us :). Some rank, some war and kill, we drank beer and had fun.

Comment: i have played this game now for over a year now and the changes and updates to it are unbelivable the game is always evolving and becomming better as everyday passes by.

some of the majour changes i have seen since i started are the 3 servers what where added to the already existing 2

Hardcore and slow: these servers are guilded servers where you can work with others to rule the server the main difference between these 2 servers is the time it takes to get turns as hardcore you get 2 turns every 10 mins and for slow its 1 turn every 10 mins, Slow takes more thought as your turns are more valuable to you but hardcore is more competetive

Anarchy server: this is a server where its everymage for themselves and anything goes... and you get 1 turn every 7 minutes

Freshman Server: This Server is For New Players and every new player is encouraged to play here before any of the other servers and it teaches the basic concepts of the game so players can get the hang of it and this server gives 1 turn every 5 mins

then there is the newest server

Tournament server: Tournament Server is the place where fast and furious battles can be fought. Challenge your enemies and sort your differences out on the battlefield. Alone or with friends: you can fight on your own terms. With the game providing you a fully researched mage, you can completely focus on taking down your opponents. For this server you can choose how long the tournament lasts and how often you get turns

Now i have seen posts by a similar game to this whining about paying to play..

paying to play is not manditory and gives people some extra things in game many of the players who pay to play dont pay for the advantages they pay to help the game evolve, and to get the advantages paying is not the only way there are several ways you can get it

REMEMBER PAYING DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A RANK 1 SPOT OR MAKE YOU INVISBLE TO ATTACKS FROM OTHER MAGES

i would tell anyone who enjoys mmorpgs to try this game out as there are always people around who are helpfull and are willing to offer their services

so just go try it out

any questions you can use the ingame chat what you can find on the main page of the site or you can goto the GalaxyNet server on irc and join #fivepillars

Comment: The game is constantly evolving, and get better evey set. No other game stand to its knees in depth and stategic possibilities. Easy to play, but hard to master.

Mark: most of the bad remarks here is by a moderator of a constesting game.

Comment: This game is very, very bad. I tried it for 1 set, and already, I was tired of it. It really does offer unfair advantages to people who vote, and pay money. The menu is also not user-friendly and is counter-intuitive. I recommend players not to play this.

Comment: As the player that uses that nick (Swordmage) in the t5p community (and everywhere else I roam), I would like to point out that the last comment was not made by me. Apparently someone finds it funny to steal nicks ...

And just for the record, the statement is also untrue in almost all respects. The game IS free - nobody has to pay for anything, and you do not get more turns if you pay; donators do, however, have a bigger turn pool than those that do not donate (which is an advantage, certainly, but not one that cannot be overcome). As for it being "boring and old" - well, there is no arguing taste, but I personally do disagree with that. The developers of the game (and dedicated players) do try to keep the game interesting and balanced. And it certainly is more interesting than most other games I have seen.
I would suggest you give it a try and form your own opinion about it.

Comment: I have played this game almost since it started and i just wantwed to clear a few things up. firstly you do not need to "line the GM pocket to do well" this game can be played just a well without spending any money. There are more ways than one to get bonuses other than paying a small ammout of money, you can join many different groups within the game and do things to help the GM. secondly there are no adverts within the game anymore(which i found annoying aswell) the game isnt as eye catching as say archmage was(i never play AM) but the game is yonug and the GM only has an army of one. I think the game has come a long long way since it first started. if you tried this game when it first came out try it again becuase i think you will be suprised with the many changes that have taken place.

oh, and i almost forgot, i know most of the players that have donated money to the game and they didnt donate the money to get bonuses it was becuase they wanted to help the game as do I.

Pros and Cons of the game.

almost all of the bugs are gone fromt he game, it is very rare that there is a bug found.
the people and the forums are a great pass time.
no ads all over the place.
the server doesnt crash anymore.
any different guides to the game for newbies that need help.
nearly all units and spells have a picture to go with them.
new and improved items and a new wonder (for the most recent reset)
a new server designed just for newbies with an advisor juust for them.

the visual of the game could be improved. atm its not so appeling as other games.
research can be differuct to people that have never played this game or games like it before.
[statistics] page take a little while to reload new data.

thats pretty much everything i can think of, and i would say to you if you havent tried this game then do becuase it is really good and worth it.

Comment: This game is great and grand. I been playing it since sept. of last year and I was an archmage refugee, I thought nothing would replace archmage but this game has. Also this game has the greatest admin. I have ever seen. If you haven't tried this game, then just try it, it is free and doesn't take too much time out of your life. Heck it is soo addictive that I sometimes risk getting in trouble to play it from work. This game is a 100 for sure

Comment: Dont believe those positive comments below. This ripped Archmage game tells you that:

"if you put a good comments on us in site blah, blah, we will review it and give you REWARDS."

dont bother playing, THE FREE- five pillars game contains so many advertisement which tells you to download SPYWARES/ ADWARES, and join those popular sites which is known for SPAMMING your mailbox.

Comment: Well, I've played The Five Pillars almost from the start, when there were many bugs and game wasn't balanced yet.

I'm not saying that t5p is a perfect game - every game can be improved, so that applies to t5p too - but the fact that it is being improved all the time should mean much. Yes, there are still minor bugs from time to time, but the overall expiriance is great.
From my point of view, the community is growing and is good and helpfull for newbies.

Now, let's deal with the donation thing once and for all. When a player donates, he receives the possibility to store more turns in his pool and to meditate longer than three days. Players who donated have exactly the same range (+125% -80% of their power) to hit. The fact that most top mages donated and are ranked high means they like the game and wish to help its creator to improve it further. They'd be on top if they didn't donated too. People who post their comments should learn a few things about the game before they do so. And they can learn it because, as I mentioned before, veterans are willing to help and the community is healthy. Cheaters are and will be dealth with fast.

Comment: I think people who have done some comments here seem to be missing the point of the game. Yes, it does have it's disadvantages, every game does, you cannot make a game without them.
T5P is a very good game with a very in depth battle system, and because the battle system is in depth, this makes the game very competetive. The folk on T5P are generally very friendly people, i haven't meet someone on there that i do not like. (yet :P) And yes, Zebulon does keep a very close eye on cheaters, most cheaters in the game are abolished before they can do much.
The Advantages to T5P are as follows: (This is for me anyways)
Friendly people who (usually ;)) Try to help out the newbies as best they can.
Extremely in depth battle system for a vast range of strategies.
Server is usually up.
Cheaters never prevail :).
You get a great satisfaction kicking peoples butt :D.
It's drawbacks are:
Still in early development really, so quite a few bugs still prominent.
On fast guilds create a
"powerblock" which stops other users playing properly.
Donaters do get an advantage, but what they are complaining about up there I have no idea, doesn't every (free) game have a donating feature where the donater gets some extras, otherwise, what would be the point in donating ?
In Solo, Co-ordinating is a major issue not dealt with yet.
Can be aggrevating when you can't beat anyone and always get beat :(. (Like me :()
Overall, this is a pretty good game, but it needs more time to become really good, however, time is something T5P does have, so things i suppose are looking up for it :)

Comment: I had played the game too. It was fun when i was getting the hang of it, until i had discovered the dark side of it.
As previousally mentioned the game is free, but the game is biased to the ones who line the GM's pockets. The top 10 consisted of mostly donaters.
There was a limit or range on who you could attack given the screen of ranks that you were in, It also showed the top 10 which I could not attack, however i was in 130th place and the #11 person could attack me, showing that there is no range for the donaters and/or top players. Plus guilds had additional benifits that solo players could NEVER attain without joining a guild.

As for originality the game had some original elements, however there were some that were easily revealed as copies, such as the spell "Dark Ritual." The spell used some mana and gave you more;however, there is a "Magic" card that does the same thing. Due to the popularity, publication, and possible copyright, I beleive that "Dark Ritual" was stolen.

In all the game is fun untill you learn that you have to lick some boots to get anywhere.

Comment: I too have now played this game for a full reset. As mentioned before this game is nearly exactly the same as a popular game that is no longer available called "Archmage". In fact, there's probably several copyright infringements here. This game has good qualities and bad.
The good qualities are as follows:
-A dramatically better system for stopping cheaters and unfair play.
-It's just fun to play.
-The forums are somewhat helpful to newbies.

Now the bad qualities.
-Although the game "claims" it's free to play, you get unfair advantages and perks if you consistantly donate money to the webmaster. So basically, the more money you pony up, the better stuff you get.
-The game is not nearly as visually appealing as Archmage was. You're not "drawn into the game" like you were with Archmage.
-Your computer will be loaded with spyware cookies after playing this game. Download Ad-aware & run it after every time you play. That's quite annoying.
-There's still not quite enough people playing to make it exceptional. More people playing = better playing experience.

These are just some qualities that this game has. It's worth checking out.

Comment: After playing "the five pillars" for a full reset, I believe time has come for some small comments from my side. (yes, that means I am not entirely unbiased ;) )

Five pillars is an online game not unlike a certain other, quite famous game, namely Archmage.
You take on the role of a wizard attuned to one of five colors (eg brands of magic) and use spells and creatures in a turn-based environment to struggle over land and wealth against fellow mages.

The game itself runs rather smooth, if a bit slow at peak times, and sports a small but overall friendly community from all over the world.
The bugs that occur now and then are swiftly dispatched of by a very capable admin that as well keeps a close eye on potential cheaters. Since me and some friends play from an University network, for example, we were put under monitoring until we had explained the situation to the admin which effectively keeps out a lot of multimaging cheaters.
Another plus is the very well thought through amgic system that sports mana of five different colors, and although one specializes in one color, one can not completely ignore the other colors.
I could prattle on about the good aspects of t5p, yet the review would become way too lengthy, so let me simply conclude by the final statement:
T5p is, to me, a highly enjoyable game to play, a game that you can play with investing five minutes to several hours per day, and if you are looking for a pastime, I sincerely advise you to give it a try. It is free, after all, so you cannot make a big mistake :)

Hope to see you soon,
- F.P.
